Regulation of Transnational Corporations (TNCs) in international law: Exploring the concept of home and host state

Abstract

The regulation of companies (MNCs) in international law has become a significant concern in global governance. This study investigates the relationship between the countries where these companies are based and the countries where they operate in terms of regulating their activities. The exploration underscores the importance of balancing promoting economic growth through MNC activities and ensuring responsible corporate behaviour globally. By examining principles and mechanisms within international law such as state sovereignty, corporate responsibility, and jurisdiction beyond national borders, this research aims to shed light on the challenges and opportunities involved in balancing the interests of MNCs and the communities they affect. Through an approach that includes legal analysis case studies and theoretical frameworks this study contributes to the ongoing discussion on effective governance strategies, for MNCs within the context of globalization and economic interdependence. © 2024, IGI Global.
